Great Find!

As an event decorator I receive lots of catalogs both retail and wholesale. I have occasionally found some great price finds with the retail catalogs and over the years I created a library for future buys and inspiration. You never know what you can find when flipping through the pages. Well today I received Pottery Barns "Garden Living " issue which also features Easter tabletop decor (check it out).. PB carries a collection of whats called "Caterer's Box Collection" service for 12. WoW!! They haven't left anything out to get started from china, glassware, flatware, napkin rings and even unbreakable outdoor china.
PB "Caterers Collection" also offers a 3 piece serveware set, 6 piece serving set and even candles. It's classic basics, you can't go wrong and the price is worth it! What I love is it's boxed so it's great for storing and transporting..

Stick it!

I''m always looking for new ways to bring atmosphere into a plain room especially if nothing is on the walls. Yes we have done the draping, lighting, columns with urns atop filled with lush flora and even giant backdrops but this recession has made us have to find other solutions with more cost effective ideas and we did! Reusable wall decals, they come in lots of themes sizes and colors and most of all cheap compared to what we have been doing..

We say bring this look at home for your next party. Or just add as decor to your plain walls.
Below are a few ideas..

Lace

I happened to look out my living room window at the snowflakes and they made me think, hmmm?? Looks like droplets of white lace. So I thought to myself let me explore what is out there and bring to the entertaining world...
The inspired "lace" snowflakes..

Take old or new lace doilies and dye them in nontraditional colors as shown above in gray..
Black Vinyl Placemats (also in assorted colors) @patinastores.com

Anne Marie Lace napkins and place mats @wrapables.com
I love the pop of color against the napkins gives a fresh modern look to a classic..

CB2.com for the panel or Taikamylly Fabric@textilarts.com sold per yard
This over sized lace inspired fabric print, great as an overlay that stands out much more than traditional lace tablecloth..

Vellum wrapped glass containers, so easy to do...

Lace tiered cake stands out much more with a contrasting icing color. How about lime green, turquoise or orange as the contrasting lace look? It can give a contemporary style to the cake..

Francesco Scravagile fruit carvings
Now I'm not a fan of fruit/vegetable carvings but if its done throughout the entire piece in one variety and of varied sizes it could look very sheek..

Spoonful of deliciousness

Here is a tasty little trick from Southern Living, that you can do ahead of time. This is a different take on those chocolate covered spoons. Just use store bought whipped topping(Cool Whip) and stir it a little to whip it up. Then get a nice size dollop on a spoon and sprinkle some shaved chocolate, toffee bits, or powdered cocoa over the top. Set in the freezer for up to 2 days and when you're ready to make that mug of hot chocolate extra special, take one out. They thaw quickly and will not cool off the beverage.

I'm Back!!!

After a few months hiatus I'm Back! Been busy with an exhausting client renovation job among events and oh yeah the "recession job"Lots to share, lots to show..

Lets talk fine china..

So I was meandering through the fine china section in Macy's and was stopped by a Lenox pattern "Chirp" showed above and it made me think, why not do some research on fine china patterns that the department stores sell and show my top pics of hundreds of patterns available..

There are so many patterns to choose from so it was a tough choice but I pulled what I thought stood out, thinking how would the china look against tablecloth and napkin colors, flatware to glassware. I chose the one pattern from each designer that would be my choice even though I hate matchy matchy china. I'll pretend I'm picking out my "Wedding China"
